An Administrative Resolution changing the title
and class specification for Student Library Aide
to Library Aide in the Civil Service Rules.
RESOLVED, that the Civil Service Rules be amended in Section ?
thereof, under the heading "Special Employments", by striking out the
title of Student Library Aide and by substituting in lieu thereof, in proper
alphabetical order, the title of Library Aide; and be it
FURTHER RESOLVED, that the Civil Service Rules be further amended
in Section 49 thereof by striking out the class specification for the title of
Stuclent Library Aide, and by substituting in lieu thereof, in proper alphabetical
order,the attached class specification for the title of Librar}r A.ide,

DESCRIPTIOiV OF WORK
General Statement of Duties: Performs routine and repetitive clerical
library work limited in complexity and variety on a part-time basis;
performs related duties as required.
Supervision Received: Works under the immediate supervision of professional
or paraprofessional librarians.
Supervision Exercised: None.
TYPICAL DUTIES PERFORMED
The listed examples may not include all duties performed by all positions in
this class.
Prepares books and periodicals for circulation by applying covers, pasting
pockets, taping, labeling and stamping information.
Issues and receives books and other library materials; searches for books
on materials requested; collects and records fines; records daily
lending volume.
Sorts and she2ves books and other materials; inspects and makes minor
repairs on books and periodicals.
Performs incidental filing.
Receives applications for library cards.
Answers telephones; soxts and delivers mail; assists with special programs,
including puppet shows and movies.
KNOWLEDGES, SKILLS AND ABILITIES
Some knowledge of library practices and procedures.
Some ability to follow oral and written instruction.
Some ability to communicate e£fectively, both oxally and in writing.
Working ability to deal with public in a tactful and effective manner,
MINIMUM QUALTFICATI�NS
Must be at least 16 years of age.

The Finance Committee at its meeting of August 14, 1978 took the following action:
1 .. Recomnended approval of the resolution on funds eligible at this time
for the diseased tree program. -
� 2. Recorr�nended approval af the resolution providing an additional appropriation
of $300,000 for Workmen's Compensation. It was further recommended the City
Attorney appear at the next meeting to provide background information on the
processing of claims.
3. Recommended approval of resolution providing supplemental appropriation of
$219,000 for computer services furnished by Ramsey County.
4. Recommended approval of six personnel resolutions. (Items 5 through 10),.
5. Recommended approval of two resolutions approving col]ateral to protect
_ public funds. _ _
