An Administrative Resolution revising the Class
Specification for the title of Transportation Coor-
dinator II in the Civil Service Rules.
RESOLVED, that the Civil Service Rules be amended by striking
from Section 49 the Class Specification for the title of Transportation
Coordinator II, and by substituting in lieu thereof, the attached Class
Specif ication for the title of Transportation Coordinator II.

TRANSPORTATION COORDINATOR II
DESCRIPTION OF WORK
General Statement of Duties: Performs supervisory and expert clerical work
scheduling, coordinating and monitioring the transportation of parochial
and public school students; and performs related duties as assigned.
Supervision Received: Works under the general supervision of a unit head.
Supervision Exercised: Exercises within the unit close supervision over
subordinate clerical workers.
TYPICAL DUTIES PERFORMED
The listed examples may not include all duties performed by all positions in
this class.
Directs and reviews the work of staff assigned to establish and maintain
the district's school bus routes and schedules.
Determines number of bus routes needed.
Coordinates student transportation for field trips and special events.
Establishes and revises bus routes and schedules; determines student
eligibility for free transportation; and assigns students to buses.
Coordinates and updates interschool transportation schedules as changes
occur in the learning center cluster program.
Investigates and recommends solutions to transportation related problems
including discipline and property damage occurring on school buses.
Verfies receipt of services contained in transportation billings.
Maintains records related to busing operations and prepares reports and
cost analysis studies as reQuired.
Recommends new policies and procedures to insure safer and more efficient
transportation service.
Establishes schedules for bus evacuation drills for students and assists
with bus safety programs.
IQVOWLEDGES, SKILLS AND ABILITIES
Working knowledge of laws relating to school bus safety requirements and
busing programs. �
Considerable knowledge of the Saint Paul school locations and number and
type of students eligible for transportation.
Considerable knowledge of the school programs requiring transportation.
Considerable ability to deal effectively tivith bus companies, students,
parents, school personnel, and the general public.
Working ability to prepare and present cost analysis studies and other
operational reports.
Considerable ability to develop, implement and coordinate a school bus
program.
Working ability to deal courteously and effectively with supervisors,
subordinates and the general public.
MININiUNt QUALIFICATIO�S
Two yeaxs' work experience involving dispatching or scheduling of buses or
involving coordinating a busing operation equivalent to the busing
operation of the Saint Paul Board of Education.

The Finance Committee at its meeting of August 14, 1978 took the following action:
1 .. Recommended approval of the resolution on funds eligible at this time
for the diseased tree program. _
� 2. Recommended approval �f the resolution providing an additional appropriation
of $300,000 for Workmen's Compensation. It was further recommended the City
Attorney appear �t the next meeting to provide background information on the
processing of claims.

. 3. Recommended approval of resolution providing supplemental appropriation of
$219,000 for computer services furnished by Ramsey County.
