� WHEREAS, the current speed limit on West Seventh between Wheeler Street and Madison Street
Z is 35 miles per hour, and the speed limit between Madison Street and Otto Avenue is 40 miles per
3 hour, and the speed limit from Otto Avenue easterly is 30 miles per hour; and,
WHEREAS, the area from Montreal Avenue to Otto Avenue has a high volume of traffic that has
many turning movements; and,
6 WHEREAS, there is an ever increasing pedestrian traffic associated with businesses,
7 neighborhoods, high density housing, schoois and parks; and
$ WHEREAS, enforcement efforts and traffic calming would be aided with speed limits that reflect a
9 consistent speed iimit of 35 miles per hour from Madison Street to Montreal Avenue, and a speed
� limit of 30 miles per hour from Montreai Avenue to Otto Avenue; now therefore be it
1 1 RESOLVED, that in accordance with Section 169.14, Subdivision 5, of the Minnesota Motor
� 2 Vehicle and Traffic Laws, the Council of the City of Saint Paul hereby requests the Commissioner
1 3 of the Minnesota Department of Transportation to authorize the City of Saint Paul to revise the
1 4 existing speed zones on West Seventh between Madison Street and Montreal Avenue to 35 miles
15 per hour and between Montreal Avenue and Otto Avenue to 30 miles per hour.

Department of Transportation. This council resolution requests Mn/Dot to
investigate.
