01-150Council File # ��+�5� ORIG{N�,L Presented By Referred To Green Sheet # 110118 RESOLUTION OF S�INT PAUL, MIN[VESOTA 31 Committee: Date � WHEREAS, the currenf speed limit on Marshall between the Marshall Avenue bridge and Victoria 2 Street is 35 miles per hour and, 3 WHEREAS, due to the residential nature of Marshail Avenue, pedestrian safety and neighborhood 4 livability are compromised with excessive speeds; and 5 WHEREAS, since 1995 there have been 225 accidents at the five busiest intersection along this 6 section of Marshall Avenue and, � WHEREAS, to help reduce the number of accidents occurring, calm traffic and to maintain a safe $ thoroughfare in this area, a reduction of the speed limit on this segment, between Victoria Street 9 and the Mississippi River to 30 mifes per hour is being requested; now therefore be it 1 o RESOLVED that in accordance with Section 169.14, Subdivision 5, of the Minnesota Motor Vehicle � 1 and Traffic Laws, the Council of the City of Saint Paul hereby requests the Commissioner of the � 2 Minnesota Department of Transportation to authorize the City of Saint Paul to revise the existing 1 3 speed zone to 30 miles per hour on Marshall Avenue between the Marshali Avenue bridge and 1 4 Victoria Street .
