MAYOR November 21,: 1977 Council President Robert Sylvester and Honorable Members of the City Council City of Saint Paul, Minnesota Dear President Sylvester and Cauncil Members: On January 14, 1975, the City Council passed Council File No. 264869 creating the City Financial Policy Advisory Committee. On February 27, 1975, the Economic Advisory Committee was created by Council Ordinance No. 265092. I have spoken with Victor Reim, Chairman of the Economic Advisory Committee and Dale Morrill, Chairman of the City Financial Policy Advisory Committee. They have indicated ta me their wish to have the committees disbanded. Though at the inception these committees fulfilled a needed function, their continued existence seems unnecessary. Bernie Carlson, head of the Finance Department, has also expressed similar feelings about the City Financial Policy Advisory Committee. On June 7, 1977, I met with members of the two committees. At that time, they expressed some doubt about the present and future usefulness of the committees. ; , Based on my conversations with Bernie Carlson, members of the committees and the chairmen, I recommend that the Economic Advisory ' Committee and the City Financial Policy Advisory Committee be dissolved. F Sincerely, • GEOR LATIMER ; Mayor GL/j f r cc: Dale Morrill, Summit Natl.
