WHEREAS, it is appropriate and desirable to establish new class titles for Building Inspector-Cement Finisher and Building Inspector-Iron Worker and Class Specifications for said titles; now, therefore, be it RESOLVED, that the Civil Service Rules be amended by adding to Section 7, under the heading "Skilled Labor", in proper alphabetical order, the titles of Building Inspector-Cement Finisher and Building Inspector-Iron Worker; and be it ' FURTHER RESOLVED, that the Civil Service Rules be further amended by inserting in Section 49, in proper alphabetical order, the attached Class Specifications for the new titles of Building Inspector-Cement Finisher and Bui.lding Inspector-Iron W orker. Supervision Received: Works under the technical and administrative super- vision of a senior inspector. Supervision Exercised: None. TYPICAL DUTIES PERFORMED The listed examples may not include all duties performed by all positions in this class. Inspects and reports on all iron work construction and installation to see that approved materials and methods are used and proper workmanship is performed in accordance with the applicable codes. Inspects with regard to zoning and fire limits and the� relation of structures to property lines. Explains sections of the applicable codes ta involved or interested parties. Inspects building damaged by fire or otherwise or buildings which have become unsafe for other reasons to determine whether or not they are a hazard to the health and safety of the public. Reports any defective or unsafe construction or materials. Investigates complaints received of violations of pertinent codes. Maintains required records a£ all inspections and violations observed. Makes general building inspections when assigned. KNOWLEDGES, SKILLS AND ABILITIES Considerable knowledge of the field of iron work and its proper method and technology. Working knowledge of general construction methods and mate:rials. Physical ability to make reQuired inspections. Ability to deal with the general public in an objective and effective manner. MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS Three years' experience as a journeyman iron worker; or five years' experience as a building construction superintendent; or five years' experience in architectural or engineering work in the design or con- struction of buildings, or in the reviewing of plans and speci£ications for compliance with building codes, at least two years of which must have been at the level of a Public Buildings Technician II or higher.
