RESOLUTION EXTENDING THE TERM OF THE
JOINT POWERS AGREEMENT FOR DOWNTOWN
PEOPLE MOVER TRANSIT SYSTEM—PRELIMINARY
ENGINEERING
WHEREAS, the City of Saint Paul (City) and Metropolitan Transit
Commission (MTC) cooperatively prepared and submitted a proposal to
the Urban Mass Transportation Administration (UMTA) to demonstrate
the benefits of a fully automated people mover system in a downtown
area; and
WHEREAS, UMTA has selected the City of Saint Paul as one of four
sites nationwide for the demonstration of the Downtown People Mover
Transit Sys tem (DPM) ; and
WHEREAS, the City and MTC have entered into a u oint Powers
Agreement dated June 21, 1977, providing for the conduct of a
preliminary engineering phase of the Downtown People Mover Transit
Sys te.nn; and
WHEREAS, the termination date of the agreement as set forth in
the June 21, 1977 Joint Powers Agreement is June 30, 1978, or until
completion of the preliminary engineering, whichever is earlier; and
WHEREAS, the City and MTC did amend on January 10 , 1978 the Joint
Powers Agreement to expand the scope of work and funding to include
an analysis of non-fixed guideway alternatives to the DPM; and
WHEREAS, the City and MTC now desire to extend the term of the
Joint Powers Agreement to Ma.rch 1, 1979, or until completion of the
preliminary engineering phase of a DPM as described in paragraph 2 of
the Joint Powers Agreement, whichever is earlier,

EXTENDING TERM OF JOINT POWERS AGREEMENT
DOWNTOWN PEOPLE MOVER TRANSIT SYSTEM
PRELIMINARY ENGINEERING �
THIS AGREEMENT made and entered into this ZZ'"� day of �� ,
1978, by and between the Metropolitan Transit Area, a pub ' c corpo-
ration and political subdivision of the State of Minnesota, acting
by and through its governing body, the Metropolitan Transit Commission,
hereinafter referred to as "MTC", and the City of Saint Paul, a '�
municipal corporation in the State of Minnesota, hereinafter referred
to as "City" .
WITNESSETH: '
WHEREAS, the City and the MTC entered into a Joint Powers '
Agreement dated June 21, 1977, providing for the conduct of the I�'i
preliminary engineering phase of the Downtown People Mover Transit
System, hereinafter referred to as "DPM" ; and ` j'
WHEREAS, the City and MTC on January 10, 1978, did amend the '
Joint Powers Agreement to expand the scope of work and funding to
include an analysis of non-fixed guideway alternatives to the DPM;
and
WHEREAS, the City and MTC desire to extend the term of said I�

NOW THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the proper City officials
are hereby authorized and directed to execute an amendment to the
Joint Powers Agreement of June 21, 1977 to extend the term of the
agreement to March 1, 1979, or until completion of the prelimi.nary
engineering phase of the DPM, whichever is earlier.

DOWNTOWN PEOPLE MOVER TRANSIT SYSTEM
PRELIMINARY ENGINEERING
THIS AGREEMENT made and entered into this day of ,
1978, by and between the Metropolitan Transit Area, a public corpo-
ration and political subdivision of the State of Minnesota, acting
by and th rough its governing body, the Metropolitan Transit Commission,
� hereinafter referred to as "MTC", and the City of Saint Paul, a

to as "City" .
