Resolution to Congratulate Gerry Strathman on �nning the Death Valley Bornx Marathoa
1 WHEREAS, Gerry Strathman has provided leadership and direcfion to the Saint Paul CiTy Council in his capacity as
2 Reseazch Director since 1988; and
3 WHEREAS, Gerry Strathman has run the gauntlet and cleared many hardles on the Council's behalf, regazding
4 matters of budget and policy importance, as well as in legislative hearings and adminisiration of Council's affairs;
5 and
6 WI�REAS, Gerry Strathmau strives for excellence in both his professional and personal commitments; and
7 WFIEREAS, Gerry Strathman, to commemorate his 60�` birthday, chose to run the Death Valley Borax Mazathon on
8 Saturday, December 8`�, 2001, where many in the Gold Rush of 1849 perished in their efforts to walk, let alone run,
9 through the Valley; and
10 WIiEREAS, we aze certain that continuing to work for the Saint Paul Ciry Council may be likened to running a
11 mazathon through Death Valley, thus running where angels have feared to tread; and now therefore be it
12 RESOLVED, that the Saint Paul City Council proudly and heartily congratulates Gerry Strathman on completing the
13 marathon, among a field of over 300 runners and countless wlture and coyote observers, placing FIRST in his age
14 category to secure gold at the finish line; and be it
15 FINALLY RESOLVED, tt�at the Saint Paul City Council declares December 12'", 2001 Gerry Sirathman Day in
16 Saint Paul.
