Briscoe ' j- / REGAI2DING: Park Nursery Trees The Wilder Foundation is glad that the Pars & Recreation Department will make use of those trees on the Park Nursery - Site which, due to roads, utility easements, and placement of buildings would be destroyed during' constr.uction. We wholeheartedly endorse the removal of those trees prior to closing on the land sale so that the trees have a reasonable chance to survive the re-planting. We do request , that the selection and taking of trees involve our project architect from Winsor-Faricy who is Tom Ulness and members of the landscape team that he indicates. Please keep me informed as to the success of the removal of these trees. cc: Tom Ulness Leonard Wilkening .t o.`, . . CITY OF SA1NT PAUL •. As you are aware the proposed project will entail a great deal of earth moving on the site. As a result much of the area will have to be regraded and reshaped. . There are many good trees on the site and it would .be a shame to lose them because of the construction projec. I am therefore requesting that you allow the Division of Parks and Recreation, Department of Cortnunity Services, to remove these trees. We will replant the trees within our - parks system. _ I have discussed this with your staff, with the staff of the Wilder Foundation and the architect for the project. They hG:e all indicated that they have no problem with what we are suggesting. I will be receiving a letter from John Briscoe giving us permission to remove the trees from the site and I will continue to work with Wilder's architect to identify the areas that will require major construction so that 4•e will only take those trees that would be lost during the construction. It is important to move as quickly as possible due to the fact that the _ mortality rate of trees increases substantially after June 15. Any assistance that you can give us in this matter will be greatly appreciated. - Sincerely, . Robert P. Piram Thomas J. IGet l ey cc: James Hart Paul McCloskey :cm •
