IPITIMTtlG ACTIQN: This project was initiated by the Department of Public Works. There has been several citizen complaints since 1974 regarding the su.rface of this street. 'r!e agree that the street nees resurfacing and are proposing this p roject to correct the problem. This project has been approved through ., the Capital Improvement. Budget process for construction in 1978. EXIS7IJG COtr'DITIONS: The roadray is structurally sound, but the surface is uneven, patched and cracked in various tocations. Much of the curb is deteriorated or missing. Many drive!ays are unpaved. PROPGSED IhiPROVEIIEPlT: ' The proposal is to place a 2 3/4" bituminous overlay over the entire prcject, adjust manholes and catch basins as necessary, reconstruct the curbing and construct sidewalk and driveways where neecied. An energy efficient sodium lighting system will be installed. ALTERrlATES: . The presen conditicn of the rcadway does not •:arrar conplEte reconstruction, and a "do nothing" alternate would result in the gradual deterioration of the street and arill ultimate)y require complete reconstruction. POSITIVE BEPJEFITS: The project ►ill enhance the area, increase the serviceability :of the roadway and eliminate maintenance problems. ADUERSE EFFECTS: Minor disruption to the area dur.ing construction time is the only adverse effect. TIME SCNEDULE: The roject should start in July, 19j8 and construction should be completed . in 30 days or less. : . .
