WHEREAS, boxing is one of the oldest organized sports in the world; and
WHEREAS, the art of boxing is a clean, healthy, physical activity; and
WHEREAS, boxing has been a form of enjoyment for people of all ages; and
WHEREAS, the official Minnesota State Athletic Commission weigh-in will
be held at 12 noon, Wednesday, September 27, at the Horatio Hornblower
Restaurant; and
WHEREAS, the Saint Paul Civic Center will be the scene of a heavyweight
bout between St. Paul's Jim Beattie and Minneapolis' Fred Askew at 8 p.m. ,
Wednesday, September 27; now, therefore, be it
RESOLVED, that Wednesday, September 27, shall officially be designated
"Boxing Day" in St. Paul, Minnesota.
