WEIEREAS, there are approximately 5,000 American Indians,
both residents and those of transient status, in the City of
St. Paul, and
WHEREAS, in the urban environment there are many factors
which contribute to inadequate provision of health care services
for American Indians, and
WHEREAS, the Division of Public Health in the City of St.
Paul will administer a $17,100 special grant from the Minnesota
Department of Health for Native American Health Services, and
WHEREAS, the goal to be met with the grant is to increase
the utilization of existing health services provided by the
Division of Public Health, especially its Model Cities Health
Clinic and the AIM Clinic, by increasing the American Indian
population's awareness and understanding of health problems,
therefore, be it
RESOLVED, that the St. Paul City Council, acting as the
Board of Health for the City of St. Paul, endorses the efforts
proposed under the Native American Health Services special grant.
