An Administrative Resolution revising certain
Class Specifications in the Civil Service Rules.
WHEREAS, it is �.ppropriate and desirable to change the Class
Specification for the title qf Public Work� Foreman I; now, therefore, be it
RESOLVED, that the Civil Service Rules be amended by striking
from Section 49 the Class Specifications for the title of Public Works Foreman
I, and substituting in lieu thereof, the attached Class Specification for the title
of Public W orks Foreman I.

PUBLIC WORKS FOREMAN I
Duties and responsibilities:
Under supervision, to supervise the constru tion, main�enance,
repair and cleaning of streets, al�eys, c rba, sidewalks,
sewers, etc. , in thE Public Works Dep rtment; to have chaxge
of the dispatching of all trucks and ot r motorized equipment;
and to per#orm related work as as si ed.
Example s of work pex�ormed:
To supervise the construction and r pair of str�ets and alleys.
To supervise the conatructiqn and �pair of curbs, sidewalks,
sewers, ca��h-basins, shafts, anholes and culverts.
To supervise street or alley gra ng.
To aupervise seal coating opera ons.
To keep time recoxds and to m e cost distributions.
To supervise crew leaders an their crew� engaged in:
Street sweeping and flushi g.
Spreading of sand, cinder and salt.
Removal of snow, ic�e: an refuse �rom streets and sidewalks.
To supervise a crew enga d in scarifying, blading and oiling
• streets�
To supervise the dispatc ing of trucks and other motorized
equipment.
To assign �ruck driver and other employees to various jobs.
To investigate compl nts as to street conditions and to take
corrective measu es.
Minimum quali,ficatio s:
Two years' expe ence as a Labor Crew Leader; or four years'
experience a an Unskilled Laborer, Semi-skilled Laborer,
Truck Drive , Road Machinery Operator, Motor Equipment
Operator, r Power Shovel Operator on maintenance and
constructi n projects of the Departme�t of Public Wqrks.
