J•�l\iy�� BLUE - MAVOR Flle NO. � 0 6 �� ' ncil Resolution Presented By ` Referred To Committee: Date Out of Committee By Date RESOLVED, that in accordance with Section 169. 14, Subdivision 5, of the Minnesota Motor Vehicle and Traffic Laws, the Council of the City of St. Paul hereby requests the Commissioner of the Minnesota Department of Transportation to determine the maximum safe speeds on the following streets or portions thereof: Pierce Butler Route from 500 feet east of Prior Avenue to Transfer Road Transfer Road from Pierce Butler Route to University Avenue and to authorize the City of St. Paul to revise the existing speed zones in accordance with the findings of the Commissioner of the Minnesota Department of Transportation. Council Resolution + PURPOSE �ND RATIONALE FOR THIS ACTION: City Council must ask the Coromissioner of the Minnesota Dapartment of Transportation to determine the maxii�m safe speeds on city streets. The present limit on the two streets referenced above is 3� mTles per hour. The speed limit on Pierce Butier Route east of the point SDO feet east of � Prior Avenue is k0 miles per hour. Recently the PublTc Works Committee approved a na tion that the speed limit be revfawed. Due to the fsct that ' pedestrian activity is ainast non-existant,the land use not fully deveioped, and traffic volumes being oniy �moderata, many drivers exceed the existing 30 mt le per hour posting.
