WHEREAS, Operation 85 and the St. Paul Arts and Science
Council have formed a group known as the 7th Place Cultural
Advisory Committee, to coordinate cultural planning programming,
design and development and to assist in implementation of such
activities,
WHEREAS, even though the City of St. Paul has undertaken
substantial physical and economic planning in the Downtown area,
traditionally planning for arts, science and culture have been
left to other groups, agencies and individuals, and
WHEREAS, there is a need to develop and coordinate plans
and designs along the space known as 7th Place from Rice Park
to Mears Park, including the North Wabasha area,
NOW THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED, that the Mayor, City Council
and the St. Paul HRA request that the Operation 85/Arts and
Science Council 7th Place Cultural Advisory Committee participate
on behalf of the City and HRA as the client in the Downtown area
in developing visual and cultural plans, programs and/or designs,
including specifically in the following areas:
1. 7th Place
2. The North Wabasha area, especially the
Shubert and the Orpheum Theaters, and
generally in the area known as 7th Place
and the North Wabasha area, and
FURTHER BE IT RESOLVED, the said committee report back to the
Mayor, City Council and HRA from time to time with such recommenda-
tions as it may have on the above-mentioned projects.
