WH6REAS, bicycle safety is an important concern in the City of Saint Paul,
there having been 128 bicycie accidents in St. Paul last year, and because
bicyclists soon become motorists, and I
WHEREAS, a comprehensive bicycle safety program includes the components of I
education, community involvement, enforcement of traffic regulations and
adjudication support,
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED, that the Saint Paul City Council endorse a
proposal by the Saint Paul Division of Public Health:
( i ) To promote and sponsor a bicycie safety program for Saint Paul 's
elementary school students;
(2) To make application to the Minnesota Department of Pubiic Safety for a
bicycle safety program grant in the amount of $5500;
(3) To provide office space, program management and supervision;
(4) To hereby authorize the Mayor to file and execute such an appiication
with the State of Minnesota, Department of Education, and to provide
additional information and to furnish such documents as may be required
by sai�d Department, and to execute such contracts as are requested by
said Department.
