An Administrative Resolution revising the Class
Specification for the title of Heavy Equipment
Ope rator in the Civil Service Rules.
RESOLVED, that the Civil Service Rules be amended by striking
from Section 32 the Class Specification for the title of Heavy Equipment
Operator, and by substituting in lieu thereof, the attached Class Specification
for the title of Heavy Equipment Operator.

DESCRIPTION OF WORK
General Statement of Duties: Performs skilled operation and routine main-
tenance of heavy power equipment in operating, excavating, backfilling and
• moving material; and performs related duties as required.
Supervision Received: Works under the supervision of a unit supervisor.
Supervision Exercised: None.
TYPICAL DUTIES PERFORMID
The listed examples may not include all duties performed by all positions in
this class.
Operates non-revolving power shovels, clams, truck cranes and front end loaders
over one yard capacit3�.
Operates farm tractor with power take off in excess of 50 horsepow�r.
Operates large tractor-dozers and dozers, roadgraders and attachments.
Operates three wheel or tandem type roller in ea�cess of six tons.
Operates vertical drills aad truck mounted generators.
Operates other heavy equipment.
Performs routine maintenance of equipm�nt.
Ki30WLIDGES, SRILLS AND ABILITIES
Considerable knowledge of the standard materials, equipment and safe work
practices related to heavy equipment operation and routine maintenance.
Working skill in operating heavy equipment in and alongside excavations
and traffic.
Working ability to operate equipment under adverse weather conditions.
Working ability to understand and follow oral and written instructions.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
Forty hours of officially recognized training or six months' experience on
heavy equipment. (Experience on the job will not count for training.)
Must have a valid Class "B" Minnesota driver`s license. The hours of
training and experience must be available to employees in the order of
their' seniority in titles in the order listed below.
1. Tractor Operator or Light Equipment Operator
2. All other laboring titles assigned to crews, i.e. Truck
Driver, Laborer, Groundsman, Ditch Digger, etc.
