Madam President and
Members of the City Cotmcil
RE: 585 Van Buren
File #2958
Honorable Cowlcil:
The Division of Housing and Building Code Enforcement is hereby submitting its report
on the condition of the structure at the location referred to above.
The owners of record are: 1.- Fee Owner: Joy H. Tschida, 740 Manomin, St. Paul,
Minnesota 55107 and 2. Unregistered Contract Purchaser: Ronald L. Peltier,
571 Van Buren, St. Paul, Minnesota 55102.
The legal description of the property is: Lot 24, Block 1, Michels Subdivision of
Block 4, Parcel Code 08-51000-240-01.
The buildings are a house and garage of wood frame construction.
The subject property has been secured by the owner si.nce March of 1977.
This building is vacant and boarded. No action ha.s been taken toward rehabilitation of
the structure. Tickets have been issued to the owner for failure to pay vacant building
registration fees. We have received many neighborhood complaints in regard to the
strueture.
Inasmuch as the conditions outlined above constitute a public hazard and the owner has
made no attempt to satisfactorily repair the damage despite our warnings, and the
continued vaeant and boarded up condition contributes a blighting influence on the
neighborhood, it is the reconnnenda.tion of this Division that this matter be referred
to t City Attorney's office for razing and removal through District Court proceedings.
