RESOLUTION SUPPORTING THE JOINT GRANT APPLICATION
OF THE SAINT PAUL HERITAGE PRESERVATION COMMISSIOE�I
AND RAMSEY COUNTY HISTORICAL SOCIETY FOR FUNDS TO
CONDUCT A COMMUNITY-WIDE SURVEY OF HISTORIC SITES
IN THE CITY OF SAINT PAUL AND RAMSEY COUNTY.
WHEREAS, the Saint Paul Heritage Preservation Commission is required
to conduct a survey of all areas, places, buildings, structures, or similar
objects in the City of Saint Paul which the Commission, on the basis of
information available or presented to it, has reason to believe are or
will be eligible for designation as Heritage Preservation Sites; as
stated in Section Five of Saint Paul Ordinance �6006; and,
WHEREAS, a historic sites survey would provide the necessary -
information to comply with Federal regulations governing environmental/
historic impact reviews of Federally assisted projects; and,
WHEREAS, sueh a survey would provide an objective data base for
judiciously selecting Heritage Preservation Sites and provide a planning
framework for development decisions; and,
�°J�iEREAS, a community-wide historic sites survey would increase
public awareness of historical and architectural assets in the neighborhoods
and downtown of Saint Paul ;
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED, by the Counci�l of the City of Saint
Paul as follows: That the Council of the City of Saint Paul strongly
supports the joint grant application of the Saint Pau1 Heritage Preservation
Commission and the Ramsey County Historical Society for funds to conduct a
two-year, community-wide, survey of historic sites in the City of Saint Paul
and Ramsey County.
