An Administrative Resolution establishing the
title and class specificati.on for Service Worker
III in the Civil Service Rules.
RESOLVED, that the Civil Service Rules be amended in Section
3. L (Technical Group), by inserting the title of Service Worker III in
Grade 16; and be it
FURTHER RESOLVED, that the Civil Service Rules be further
amended in Section 32 by inserting, in proper alphabetical order, the
attached specification for Service Worker III. �

DESCRIPTION OF WORK ���'� �
General Statement of Duties: Performs a variety of entry-level professional
duties; and performs related duties as r.equired.
Supervision Received: Works under the close technical supervision of a higher
level professional and/or administrative supervision of a unit, division
or department head.
Supervision Exercised: May exercise technical and administrative supervision
of lower-level workers.
TYPICAL DUTIES PERFORMED
The listed examples may not include all duties performed by all positions in'
this class.
Performs entry-level professional duties typified by the following:
Prepares, maintains and audits routine financial transactions.
Assists in the planning and direction of tree planting, care and removal
operation.
Assists in the investigation, design, inspection, operation or maintenance
of engineering or architectural projects.
Makes studies and writes reports; prepares and makes presentations to the
public or other agencies.
Collects and analqzes statistical data; prepaxes graphic presentations.
Assists in designing procedures, reviewing docimments financial and non-
f inancial, monitoring progress.
Assists in conducting investigations and chemical and ghysical analyses.
Assists in maintaining contact with various agencies, groups and committees.
Assists in the planni.ng, assigning and supervising of personnel; supervises
a small unit.
Assists in the promotion of programs; prepares and assembles educational
materials.
Assists in designing forms, surveys an.d samples; performs research to
develop information relevant to. a project.
Assists in coordinating manpower programs.
, Evaluates expenditures and eligibility for aid under various guidelines.
Assists in tfie management of projects and in the maintenance of project records.
Assists in soliciting proposals and in evaluating and ma.king recommendations;
assists in negotiating contracts or agreements.
Deyelops and promotes the use of various social welfare systems; interviews
and refers persons to the appropriate agencies.
Inspects and enforces various governmental regulations.
KNQWLEDGES, SKILLS AND ABILITIES
Some ability to assign and supervise the work of others.
Some ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships.
Some ability to perform research, evaluate results and make reports and
recommendations.
Some knowledge of the principles, practices and techniques of the particular
professional training from which �.hey graduated.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
College graduation, (approv�d qualifying experience may be substituted
for education) and certification from the Saint Paul District Office
of the Division of Vocational Rehabilitation or comparable recognized
agency that the applicant is physically, emotionally and intellectually
� qualified to perform the tasks required or such qualifications that an
assigned Civil Service review board may accept as equivalent.
