RESOLVED, that the Civil Service Rules be amended in Section 7
thereof under the heading "Ski].led Labor", by inserting in proper
alphabetical order the title of Heavy Equipment Operator; and be it
FURTHER RE50LVED, that the Civil Service Rules be further
amended in 5ection 49 thereof, by inserting in proper alphabetica], order
the attached class specification for the new title of Heavy Equipment
Ope rator.

General Statemeat of Duties: Performs skilled operation and routine main-
� tenance of heavy power equipment in aperating�excavating, backfilling and
raoving mater.i.al; and performs reZated duties as required.
SupervisiDn Received: Works under the supervision of a unit supervisor. ,
Supervisioa �xercised: None.
TYPICAL DUTIES PERFORMED
1"he listed�examples may not include all duties performed by all positions fn
this class.
Operatea power shovels, clams, truck cranes and €ront end loaders over
one yard capacity.
Operates farm tractor with power take off in excess of 50 horsepower.
Operates large tractor-dozers and dazers, snowplows, roadgraders and
attachments.
Operaties three wheel or tandem type roller in excess of 5000 pounds.
Operates vertical drills and truck mounted generators.
Operates other heavy equipment.
Performs routine maintenance of equipment.
KNOWLEDGES, SRILLS AND ABILITIES
Considerable knowledge of the standard materials, equipment and safe work
practices related to heavy equipment operation and routine maintenance.
Workiag skill ia operating heavy equipment in and alongside excavations
and traffic.
Working ability to operate equipment under adverse weather conditions.
Working ability to understand and follow oral and written instructions.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
Forty hours of officially recognized training or six months'experience on
heavy equipment. (Experience on the job will not count for training.)
Must have a valid Class "B" Minnesota driver's license. The hours of
training and experience must be available to employees in the order of
their seaiority in titles in the order listed below.
1. Tractor Operator or Light Equipment Operator
2. All other laboring titles assigned to crews, i.e. Truck
Driver, Laborer, Groundsman, Ditch Digger, etc.

1 . Resolution establishing title and class specification for Housing Code
Specialist in Grade 10 of the Professional-Administrative group. ,. '
V 2. Resolution establishing new title of Heavy Equipment Qperator in Section 7

for this titl.e.� This title will eventually replace title of Tractor Operator III.
3. Resolution establishing wage rate for new title of Heavy Equipment Operator.
