Supervision Received: Works under the general technical and administrative supervision of the unit head. Supervision Exercised: Exercises within the unit close technical supervision over housing aides and technicians. TYPICAI� DUTIES PERFORMED The listed examples may not include all duties performed by all positions in . this class. Directs the operation of a segment of the housing code enforcement program. Screens and distributes work assignments to subordinate workers, realigns work districts as required by fluctuating staff and work levels. Reviews work assignments for completeness, accuracy and soundness of �udgment, records and monitors progress and disposition of 3nspections and survey. Provides technical assistance to housing aides and technicians, explains and interprets ordinances, regulations and policies. Discusses recommendations for conde�ation and other enforcement proceedings with housing aides, technicians and supervisors; expedites legal authori- zation to remove vacant building. Acts as a liaison between the housing unit and various enforcement and service agencies; assists technicians in referring non-housing related problems to the appropriate agency; establishes contracts with new referral sources. Trains emploqees in inspection methods and skills and acquaints them with the philosophy and operating procedures of the unit; conducts formal training sessions and arranges for and participates in meetings with community and technical advisers. Makes recommendations for modification of unit golicies and procedures. � Investigates complaints and inspects buildings and grounds to determine conformity with codes and regulations. Interprets and explains policies and actions of the unit to owner/occupant, counsels clients on methods of achieving compliance. Issues summonses for violations of code and recommends abatement or condemnation proceedings when voluntary compliance cannot be obtained. Testi£ies in court as an expert witness in housing inspection matters; represents the City at appeals hearings. Ms;r represent the division at City Council hearings, neighborhood meetings � and at other public meetings. Prepares enforcement recommendations and prepares reports of inspection , activit3.es. I�lOWLEDGES, SKILLS AND ABILITIES Considerable knowledge of housing codes, laws and regulations. Considerabl� lcnawledge of services offered by comr�unity housing, fina*:cial and counseling agencies.
