ADVISABILITY AND OESIRABILITY PROJECT: Construct a new Ornamental Street Lighting System on EAST THIRD STREET from Maria Avenue to Johnson Parkway, City Project No. 79-V-0678. INITIATING. ACTION: The Dayton's B1u�f Community Council requested new lighting on East Third Street. The Capital Improvement Budget Committee approved the request with funding from Community Development Block Grant Year 5 mon i es. � EXISTING CONDITIONS: Existing lighting consists of inercury vapor luminaires mounted on Northern States Power Company power poles .- Units are spaced approximately 300 feet apart. Light leveis are inadequate for a coilector roadway with approximately 8000 vehicles per day. PROPOSED IMPROVEf1ENTS: Commercial liqht standards, 30 feet in height, will be placed from Maria Avenue to Maple Street. The style will be the same as presently exists on Third Street immediately west of Maria Avenue. The area east of Mapie Street is residential in character and our typical re�i�ential l �ght Fole will Ee i±4Qd here. �t is the same �•nit th�t ha5 been used on many streets immediately adjacent to Third Street. Energy efficient high pressure sodium liqhting wili be used.
