WHEREAS, bicycle afety is an importarrt concern in the City of Saint Paul , and
WHEREAS, educatio is one of the best means to increase the awareness and
observation of bi ycle safety practices,
NOW, THEREFORE, B� IT RESOLVED, that the Saint Paul City Council endor�es a
proposal by the Saiint Paul Division of Public Health:
(1) To promote and sponsor a bicycle safety poster contest for Saint Paul 's
elementary school students;
(2 ) To make application to the Minnesota Department of Public Safety for a
bicycle safe�y program grant in the amount of $3,860;
(3) To provide o�fice space, program management and supervision;
(4) To hereby au�Ghorize the Mayor to file and execute such an application with
the State of 'Minnesota, Department of Public Safety, and to provide additional
information nd to furnish such documents as may be required by said Department,
and to execu e such contracts as are requested by said Department.
