An Administrative Resolution establishing a
new title and class specification in the Civil
Service Rules.
RESOLVED, that the Civil Service Rules be amended by adding to
Section 7, under the heading "Semi-Skilled Labor", in proper alphabetical
order, the title of Lighting Maintenance Worker; and be it
FURTHER RESOLVED, that the Civil Service Rules be further amended
by inserting in Section 49, in proper alphabetical order, the attached Class
Specification for the new title of Lighting Maintenance Worker.

DESCRIPTION OF WORK
General Statement of Duties: Performs routine maintenance work cleaning
street lights, replacing lamps and assisting Electricians by performing
unskilled work involved in the construction and maintenance of street
lighting; and performs rela�ed dnties as required.
• Supervision Received: Works under the close supervision of an �lectrician
or Electrician Foreman.
Supervision Exercised: May exercise immediate supervision over lower level
temporary employees.
TYPICAL DUTIES PERFORMED
The listed examples may not include all duties performed by all positions in
this class.
Observes and reports lighting malfunctions.
Washes glassware.
Replaces broken glassware.
Renews lamps on lighting installations.
Digs trenches and assists with laying of conduit.
Mixes concrete for post bases and for repairing streets and sidewalks.
Operates an aerial l.ift truck.
May supervise lower level employees engaged in cleaning and changing lamps
and glassware.
KNOWLEDGES, SKILLS AND ABILITIES
Working ability to prepare reports of work performed.
L�orking ability to understand and follow oral and written directions.
Working ability to perform m�derately physical work in all kinds of weather
conditions and at heights.
Working knowledge of city street locations.
Working knowledge of safe operation of aerial lift truck and safety
procedures involved in caorking in heavy traffic and among overhead
wires.
MINIb:UM QUALIFICATIONS
r4ust be eighteen years of age. Must have a rlinnesota driver's license.

The Finance Committee, at its meeting of Apri1 2, 1979, recommended approval of
� the following:
1 . Resolution establishing title of Lighting M�intenance Worker in Section 7 of
the Civil Service Rules Under the heading of "Semi-Skilled Cabor° and a class
' specification for the•title of Lighting Maintenance Worker in Section 49 of
the Civi1 Service Rules.
* 2. ResQlution amending Salary Plan and Rates of Compensation Resolution, setting
forth the wage rates for the new title of Lighting Maintenance Worker which is
being established in Section 7 of the Civil Service Rules under the heading -

3. Resolution providing supplemental appropriation of $261 ,223 to the T979 budget -
� in settlement of claim of A1an J. Weier for damages and injuries sustairied.
