WSEREAS, some properties have been damaged due to
floods and other na tura l disa sters and such damage may
reduce the market value of the propertyt and
WHEREAS, same owners of damaged property may slect
to p�tition for a re-evaluation of their property' s
market value or asseased value for the purpose of reducing
their real estate taxes levied during the period of time
when the value has been reduced because of such natural
disasterj now therefore be it
RESOLVED� that the Council of the C ity of Saint paul
hereby requests that the Ramsey County Assessor and
Ramsey County Board re-evaluate the market value for
real estete tax gurposes of properties that have been
damaged by flaods or other natural disasters.

The Public Works Committee met on Thursday, February 1, 1979, 7:00 p.m.,
. at the Iowa Hi-Rise, 1743 E. Iowa. The meeting was attended by representatives
of the Public Works Department--Donald Nygaard, Kent Schonberger and Allen �
, Shetka--John Harwood of the consulting firm of Orr, Schelen, Mayeron &
Associates, Inc. ; State Representative Randy Kelly; Kenneth Haider of the •
City of Maplewood; Legislative Aide, Karl Neid, Jr.; and over 50 residents
from the area. After considerable testimony and discussion, the Public �
Works Committee approved the recommendations made by the Public Works -
Department. In addition, the Chairman of the Committee was instructed to
draft a resolution for the .City Council requesting Ramsey County to re-evaluate-
the market value for real estate tax purposes of properties that have been
damaged by floods or other natural disasters.
