Whereas, the improvements were accelerated and paid for in fvll with �621,779.85 Municipal State Aid funds in order
to reduce additional tr�c delay to Trunk Highway 61 that will result from the closing of the Arcade Street
Bridge (wer Phalen Boulevard) in 2002, and
Whereas, the Minnesota Department of Transportation (MnDOT) has a"Cooperative Constmction Cost Participation
Policy" whereby MnDOT participates in the funding of construction projects a£fecting Trunk Highways that have
a mutual local and state benefit,
Whereas, the "Right of Way Acquisition and Channelization of Maryland Avenue from Weide Street to Mendota Street"
project (City Project No. Ol-P-1204, State Aid Project 164-020-93) has a mutual benefit to the City of Saint Paul and
Trunk Highway 61, so
Now, therefore be it resolved that the proper city officials are hereby authorized to request reimbursement from
MnDOT for costs of the "Right of Way Acquisition and Channelization oFMaryland Avenue from Weide Street to
Mendota Street" pmject (City Project No. Ol-P-1204, State Aid Project 164-020-93) that represent the benefit to
Minnesota Trunk Highway 61(Arcade Street).

The City of Saint Paul has comp?ete� improvements at Trunk Highway 61 (Arcade Street) and County State Aid Highway 31 (Maryland �
Avenue) in order to improve safety and reduce traffic delay. The improvements were accelerated and paid for in full with MSA funds in
order to reduce additional traffic de;ay to TH 61 that will result from the closing of the Arcade Street Bridge (over Phalen Boulevazd) in
2002. MnDOT has a"Cooperative Consuuction Cost Participation Policy", whereby MnDOT participates in the funding of construccion
projects affecting Trunk Highways that have a mutual local and state benefit. The aforementioned project has a mutual benefit to the City of
Saint Paul and Tmnk Highway 51. This resoluflon seeks the authority to request reimbwsement from MnDOT for costs of this project that
represent the benefit to TH 61 (Arcade Street).
