General Statement of Duties: Performs supervisory and technical work in the development and maintenance of computer systems and programs; acts as data processing resources person for the Library System; and performs related duties as assigned. Supervision Received: Works under the general administratiive direction of � a division or department head. Supervision Exercised: Exercises within the unit close technical and administrative supervision over professional, technical and clerical wortcers. TYPICAL DUTIES PERFORMID The listed examples may not include all duties performed by all positions in this class. Plans, assigns and supervises the work of the data processing division and the Overdues Desk staff. Confers with Library staff regarding the fea.sibility of data processing applications. Writes, tests and documents programs for the Library. - ` Reviews work ready for processing, schedules the use of eqt�ipment and coordinates work flow. -Trains staff in the use of data processing equipment; trains all new - ` - ° library staff in the use of the microfilm charging equipment. Evaluates and selects new hardware and software; acts as liaison betwee� tfie library and computer equipment suppliers and maintenance and repair workers. Designs and establishes specifications for data processing forms and reports. . Acts as a liaison between the Saint Paul Library system and several committees of the Metropolitan Library Service Agency. Maintains magazine holdings list, renews all magazine subscriptions and . npdates the Minnesota Union list of serials. KNOWLID�ES, SKILLS AND ABILITIES Considerable kno�aledge of data processing applications and systems analysis inetfiods and techniques. - Considerable knowiedge�of computer operation.s and procedures and equipment: - - � ��- Considerable ability to determine priorities and to plan, organize and supervise clerical and technical staff. Considerable ability to establish and maintain effective working relation- ships with users. Considerable ability to program using the RPG programming language. MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS (Options) 1.
