WHEREAS, The Metropolitan Sports Facilities
Commission gives exclusive use to the North Stars Financial
Corporation for leaseand sub-lease of the Metropolitan
Sports Arena, and
WHEREAS, the taxpayer, not the North Stars, owns the
Metropolitan Sports Arena, and
WHEREAS, The St. Paul Civic Center is owned by the
taxpayer, and thus St. Paul taxpayers are paying for two
public entertainment facilities in the metropolitan area,
and
WHEREAS, Minnesota Statute, Section 473, 595, Subdivision
2 states:
"Rentals, fees and charges provided for in use
agreements entered into by the commission shall
be those estimated by the Commission as far as
possible, with Commission revenues from other
sources, the amounts needed for current operation,
maintenance, and debt service, "
now, therefore be it
RESOLVED, That the Ca.ty of St. Paul urges the Metropolitan
Sports Facilities Commission to explore the possibila.ty of the
North Stars playing a number of hockey games in the St. Paul
Civic Center; and be it
FURTHER RESOLVED,That the City of St. Paul urges the
Metropolitan Sports Facility Commission to review the contract

FURTHER RESOLVED,That the City of St. Paul urges that
the Civic Center Authority and Metropolitan Sports Facilities
Commission meet and confer to insure maximum revenue to both
facilities.
