WHEREAS, foreign purchased goods and materials are detrimental to the
balance of trade of the United States, and
WHEREAS, the employment rate in the United States is extremely high in
certain industries that compete with foreign goods, now therefore be it
RESOLVED, that the City of Saint Paul request that the State Competitive
Bidding Act be amended to allow the City of Saint Paul to enact "Buy
American" legislation as a city ordinance, and be it further
RESOLVED, that the City endorse this as part of the 1980 City Legislative
Package.
