WHFREAS, the City Council has been requeated to r ecommend to the 3taCe
Department of Bconomic Develop�ment that $agine House No. 5 be granted a direct loan as
permitted by Minnesota Statutes 472, and
WHEREAS, the University Avenue Development Corporation, doas not have the
funds available to assiat Bngine Aouae No. 5
W�REAS, Engine 8ouse No. 5 is the name of a reataurant that will resnit
from the renovation of a vacant strueture at 498 Selby Avenue back to its origiaal
appearance as a firehouse.
WHEREAS, this small businesa pro�ecC will create 60 jobs, create construction
jobs, add to the City's tax bas�, a nd will provide a catalyst for further Selbq
Avenue busiaess revitalization.
NOiW, TBEREFORB, BE IT RESOLVED that the City Council of the City of Saiat
Paul recommends to the Executive Council of the Minnesota Department of Economic
Development that a loan to Eagine House No. 5 be ancouraged and approved by the
Minaesota Department of Economie Development.
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVSD, that said approval is sub�ect to satisfactory
plans being submitted that meet the requirements of the building code and the
ordin�ces of the City of Saint Paul.
