Sup�rvision Received: Works under the general technical and administrative supervision of a unit head. Supervision Fxercised: May exercise within a unit direct technical super- vision over laboring workers. TYPICAL DUTIES PERFORMID The listed examples may not include all duties performed by all positions in this class. Mixes asphalt batches by operating .levers controlling the heat, a�ount of aggregate, asphalt and oil flowing into the .weighing chamber. Checks, repairs and maintains components of .plant to assure safe operation and compliance with pollution control xegulations. Weighs materials according to prescribed formulas; mixes weighed materials in mechanical mixer. _. ... Dumgs asphalt mixes� through chute onto trucks. Requisitions and maintains a_supply of material for the ,proper and efficient - operation of the plant. ' - Unloads aggregates from railroad cars a�d tr-ucks to stockpiles. - � - - - Transfers fuels and bituminous materials from tanker to storage tanks. Places chemical in settling tanks daily and cleans out tanks as needed. KNOWLIDGES, SKILLS AND ABILITIES Considerable skill in the maintenance, repair and operation of machines and equipment used in the mixture of asphalt. Thorough knowledge of the safe operation of machines and equipment used in the making of asphalt. � Thorough knowledge of properties of materials used in the preparation of asphalt. � Working knowledge of laws and xegulations concerning pollution control. Considerable ability to understand and follow complex oral and written instructions. MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS One year's experience in the repair, maintenance and operation of an asphalt plant or two years' �experience dea].ing with the application of asphalt surfacing. A7��,'TAC x&: R.esolutio� and copy for the City Clerk. / • Title of class: ASPHALT PLANT EN�INEER Duties and responaibilities: Under supervision, to operate and maintain n�tural gas and oil fired dryer burners, asphalt pumps, belts, conveyors, bucket elevators; to maintain all auxiliary equipment; and to perform related, work as assigned. Examples of work performed: To regulate and maintain natural gas and oil fired d.ryer burners. To operate and repair asphalt punnps, belt eonveyors! bucket elevators, air compressors, gearbox drives and other related asphalt plant equipment. To inspect, lubricate and adjust related plant components. Minimum qualifications: One year's experience in maintaining an asphalt plant and firing burners. Must possess 4th class license. • • Effective January 7, 1974 • Title of class: ASPHALT BATCHERMAN Duties and responsibilities> Under supervision, to weigh and mix aggregate, asphalt and road oil according to prescribed formula; and to perform related work as assigned. Examples of work performed: To operate levers controlling the amount of aggregate, asphalt and road oil flowing into the weighing chamber. To weigh out materials according to a prescribed formula. To mix weighed materials in a mechanical mixer. To dump asphalt mix into trucks.
