01-1003Council File # 01� 100'3 Green Sheet # Jp�O'J�, �C``4171f`��� Presented By Referred To Committee: Date 1 WHEREAS, statistics reported to the State Public Safety Department indicate that there 2 has been an increase in the number of bias motivated crimes that have been committeci in the 3 State of Minnesota and the City of Saint Paul, and; 4 WHEREAS, the Saint Paul Department of Human Rights has developed a"Social 5 Policy" strategy designed to prevent bias motivated crimes, racial/ethnic violence, bigotxy, and 6 religious intolerance, and; 7 WHEREAS, corporate foundations and community agencies have expressed an interest 8 in the possibility of participating in funding the implementauon of the prevention strategy, and 9 WHEREAS, tbe City Council of the Ciry of Saint Paul has authorized the Department 10 of Human Rights, to solicit grants and donations from corporate foundauons and community 11 resources to support the implementation of the city-wide strategy and campaign, and 12 WHEREAS, the Department of Human Rights has received a grant in the amount of 13 $5,000.00 from The Minneapolis Foundation, and 14 WHEREAS, the Ciry Council of the City of Saint Paul has consented and approved the 15 request of the Human Rights Department to sell promotional items developed to implement and 16 promote the Prejudice Isn't Welcome prevention strategy with the proceeds used to purchase 17 additional items necessary to sustain the prevention strategy, and 18 WHEREAS the Mayor, pursuant to Section 10.07.1 of the City Charter, does certify 19 that there are available for apprapriation revenues in excess of those estimated in the 2001 20 Budget; and RESOLUTION CITY OF SAINT PAUL, MINNESOTA (� o t_ �009 ����I���� 1 WHEREAS, the Mayor recommends the following changes to the 2001 budget; 2 Current Amended 3 Bu et Chan¢es Bu et 4 FINANCING PLAN 5 General Govt.
