WHEREAS, the Sister Kenny Institute is sponsoring the
Miss Wheelchair Minnesota Pageant on Saturday, May 12, which
will begin the 1979 Minnesota Handicapped Awareness Week; and
WHEREAS, the Sister Kenny Institute is not only recognized
for its accomplishments in the field of physical rehabilitation
but has also been recognized for its efforts to have handicapped
persons fully accepted into society and to eliminate the social
barriers of prejudice and ignorance which have denied handicapped
persons the opportunity to freely exercise their human rights ;
so, therefore, be it
RESOLVED, that this Council , on its own behaif and on behalf
of the people of St. Paul , commends the Sister Kenny Institute
for its invaluable contributions to the needs of handicapped
persons ; and be it
FURTHER RESOLVED, that this Council extends to the Board of
Directors and staff of the Sister Kenny Institute, as well as
all participants in the Miss Wheelchair Minnesota Pageant, its
most-sincere congratulations and best wishes for a successful
pageant.
