WHEREAS, Herb Brooks is a native East Side resident and St. Paul3.te, and
WHEREAS, Herb Brooks was born and raised in St. Paul, and
WHEREAS, Herb Brooks participated and starred in the Phalen Area and
Johnson High School Hockey programs of the 1950's, and
WHEREAS, Herb attended the University of Minnesota and was also an
outstanding member of the University of Minnesota Gophers, and
WHEREAS, Herb was a stalwart and exceptional player on the 1964 and
1968 United States Olympic Hockey Squads, and
WHEREAS, Herb Brooks is Coach of the present University of Minnesota
Gophers and has been for many years, and
WHEREAS, Herb Brooks successfully coached the United States Nationals
in Moscow this previous winter, and
WHEREAS, Herb Brooks is the outstanding, excellent,. and superb coach
of the 1980 United States Olympics, and
WHEREAS, Herb Brooks has always carried high the spirit and quality of
life of St. Paul in all that he has been involved in, and
WHEREAS, Herb Brooks is a positive credit to the East Side and the City
of St.Paul, therefore be it
RESOLVED, that the City of St. Paul hereby declare October 23, 1979,
as HERB BROOKS DAY.
