WHEREAS, the City of Saint Paul may propose to widen Eighth
Street between Auditorium and Wabasha Streets; and
WHEREAS, the widening of Eighth Street would require the
acquisition of the land and building presently occupied by
Mickey's Diner by the Housing and Redevelopment Authority of the
City of Saint Paul , Minnesota (HRA); and
WHEREAS, Saint Paul Heritage Preservation Commission has
recorrunended consideration of Mickey's Diner as a Saint Paul
Heritage Preservation Site; and
WHEREAS, the proposed preservation program for Mickey's Diner,
as approved by the Heritage Preservation Co►r�nission, recomnends the
diner be moved to a nearby downtown location, in the event the
existing site is needed for street widening.
NOW THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the Staff of the HRA be
and hereby is authorized to negotiate a cont,ract with the owner of
Mickey's Diner regarding the relocation of the diner in the event
Eighth Street is widened and the diner has been designated a
Saint Paul Heritage Preservation Site. �
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that said contract be brought back to
the HRA Board of Comnissioners for its approval when finally
negotiated.
