The Metropolitan Council's Tas Base Revitalization Account program accepts applications twlce each yeaz for funds to
clean-up polluted properties in order that the properties can be redeveloped. The next application deadline is November 1,
2000. Applications must be supported by City Council resolutions authorizing the applications. The Dept. of Planning and
Economic Development has identified two projects where existing pollution problems aze inhibiting redevelopment. They
aze: 1) James J. Hill housing project at 281 E. Kellogg Blvd. (conversion of a vacant warehouse building into 55
condominium housing units); and 2) Specialty Parking Project at 750 Pelham Blvd. (development of parking for the
Specialry Building at University and Raymond to allow more of the building to be converted to office space, instead of
storage space).
ADVANTAGES IF APPROVED:
The City may receive pollution clean-up funds to assist in two redevelopment projects that are strongly supported by adopted
City plans and policies.
DLSADVANTAGES IF APPROVED:
None.
DISADVANI'AGES IF NOT APPROVED:
The City will not be able to apply for clean-up funds.
