Also, condemriing and taking an easement in the land for slopes, cuts and fills, including right of removal of laterel support from subject land or remainder ` thereof occasioned by excavations thereof or construction of slopes in the • grading, paving and construction of concrete curb and gutter on GROTTO STREET from Pierce Butler Route north to alley. The total estimated cost of this pro�ect is $23,490.00 and will be financed as follows: Direct Assessment $15,750.00 City Aid $ 7,740.00 Total $23,490.00 The estimated assessable rate per front foot is $55.00. If you would like more information about this improvement you can telephone 292-6281 for construction information or 298-5241 for assessment information. Zn addition, the City's technical advisors will be available to meet with you and discuss this proposed improvement in Room 218 City Hall from 9:30 to 10:00 A.M. the same day as the hearing. , While the City Charter requires that we notify you of the hearing, we want to help you to learn fully about any improvement that could affect you or your community. Condemning and taking an easement in the land for slopes, cuts and fills, including right of removal of lateral support from subject land or remainder thereof occasioned by excavations thereof or construction of slopes in the grading, paving and construction of conc�ete curb and gutter on GROTTO STREET from Pierce Butler Route north to alley. INITIATING ACTION: This project is being initiated by a Petition signed by all of the three abutting property owners. EXISTING CONDITIONS: This project is only one-half block long and the right-of-way is 60' wide. it is an unimproved street with a dirt surface. There is a house on the West side, a parking lot on the East side, and a rigging and erection company on the North. PROPOSED IMPROVEMENTS: The proposal is to grade, pave, and construct concrete cu�b and gutter. The street will be 32' wide with a bituminous surfacing. Storm water drainage facilities will be necessary to take drainage to a future storm sewer in Pierce Butler Route. SPECIAL CONSIDERATIONS: A Permit was issued to B. E S. Rigging to complete these improvements. After the rough grading was complete, they stopped construction and requested that the work be completed by the City under our normal contract work. They have reimbursed the Department of Public Works for all engineering incurred under the Permit. A considerable amount of water drains from the parking lot onto the street and alley. The alley is ungraded with a low spot in the middle. Construction of the street and drainage facilities will reduce the drainage probl_ems of the alley. w ... . . a .c..'7�•�a ��7� s�� COST AND FINANCING: Estimated Construction Cost - $23,000.00 Valuation � Assessment Services - 460.00 Miscellaneous Costs - 30.00 TOTAL ESTIMATEU EXPENDITURES 2�3,Ti90.00 Estimated AssessaDle Rate Per Front Foot - $ 55.00 Financing: Direct Assessment - $15,750.00 City Aid - 9, 170.00 TOTAL $23, 90.00 TIME SCHEDULE: If this project is approved, construction could be completed this Fall . RECOMMENDATION: The rough grading of this street has intensified the drainage problems of � the alley and thereby generated a number of complaints. Completion of the project wi-11 reduce these problems and will also furnish a sewer outlet for future alley construction.
