WHEREAS, the City of St. Paul in the 1970's was in direct need of residential
and commercial renewal, and rehabilitation, and revitalization, and
WHEREAS, the City of St. Paul had an abundant resource of vacant usable land, and
WHEREAS, the life of the downtown needed to be revived and rebuilt, and
WHEREAS, since February, 1978, the projects and activities in residential
rehabilitation and renewal have incr�ased in staggering degrees, and
WHEREAS, the tracts of open land are being developed by significant projects
of housing and commercial renewal, and
WHEREAS, the heart of downtown St. Paul, Town Square Park, has been planned,
designed, developed and built as a showcase of urban revitalization, and
WHEREAS, the downtown is reaping a harve�t of redevelopment, and
WHEREAS, the Renewal Administrato�of the Dept. of Planning & Economic Development
of the City of St. Paul functionally and realistically had a significant impact
and overall direction in these projects and benefits, and
w�HEREAS, the Renewal Adzninistration personally designed, planned, and implemented
Town Square Park, therefore be it
RESOLVED, that the City of St. Paul hereby wishes success and productive develop-
ment to Doug Ford in his new responsibility as General Ma.nager-Community Development
of the City of LosAngeles, and be it further
RESOLVED, that the City of St. Paul hereby commends, applauds, praises and honors
Doug Ford for his absolute and real contribution of rebirth, renewal and
revitalization to St. Paul.
