Dear Mr. Carchedi,
For at least the last two years, Mr. Conrad Lueuer has been granted
by the license department a temporary Christmas tree license for the opera-
tion of his seasonal. business at 250 W. Larpenteur. The structure that
Mr. Lueuer has used in this business has been of minimal construction and
has not, without many neighborhood complaints, been taken down aftr the
season is over. By the same token the lot has never been clear of debris
resulting from the business.
In May of 1979, the District Six Land Use Task Force supported P1r.
Lueuer's request to rezone the land so that a Christmas tree/nursery
business could operate on the site. Mr. Lueuer showed good intentions of
cleaning up the site and transf2rring his business from a 3 month opera-
tion to a year round affair. Mr. Lueuer never acted on construction of a
new facility until May of this year at which time he submitted a site plan
for the construction of a temporary structure (Butler type building) for
his business. To this date thatsite plan nor the building specifications
have been approved. Additionally the site still lies with debris from
a year ago.
The District Six Land Use Task Force and residents of the community
anticipate that Mr. . Lueuer will again this year request a temporary license
to sell Chrismas trees. The District Council requests that no license be
grar:.ted unl.ess some assurances are made that 1) the site will be cleaned
.up immediately and 2) once the temporary license has expired the site will
again be cleared (unless the building specifications have been approved by
that time) and cleaned.
Mr. Carchedi, your aid in this matter is much appreciated. Please
feel free to contact the District Six Planning Council for further
information.
