RESOLVED, that the Civil Service Rules be amended in 5ection
3. G (Labor-Maintenance, Ungraded), by inserting in proper alphabetical
order the title of Schools Labor Crew Leader; and be it
FURTHER RE50LVED, that the Civil, 5ervice Rules be further
amended in Section 32 by i.nserting, in proper alphabetical order, the
attached class specification for Schools Labor Crew Leader.

DESCRIPTION OF WORK
General Statement of Duties: Performs supervisory and manual work in
directing or participating in the construction, maintenance, repair
and cleaning of buildings and building grounds.
Supervision Received: Works under the general technical and administrative
supervision of a higher level unit supervisor.
Supervision Exercised: Exercises within a unit immediate supervision
directly over laboring workers.
TYPICAL DUTIES PERFORMED
The listed examples may not include all duties performed by all positions in
this class.
Directs and participates in the work of a crew engaged in Ioading, unloading
or moving building materials and equipment.
Directs and participates in preparatory, support and clean-up work for
trades people.
Directs and participates in the erection and removal of scaffolding.
Directs and participates in demolition and clean-up work.
Directs and participates in asphalt and concrete paving and patching work.
Directs and participates in digging and backf illing trenches for utility
connections.
Schedules and coordinates the work of laborers with that of the trades people.
Estimates type and amount of material, equipment and personnel needed for
assigned projects.
KNO��JLEDGES, SKILLS AND ABILITIES .
Considerable knowledge of the safe and proper use of tools, machines and
equipment needed to perform maintenance and repair activities.
Working ability to demonst rate work practices.
Ability to set work priorities.
Ability to communicate effectively with supervisors and subordinates.
Ability to perform heavy manual labor for extended periods.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
Four years' experience as a Building Laborer or equivalent.

We recommend your approval and submission of this Resolution to the City Council.
PURPOSE AND RATIONALE FOR THIS ACTION:
This Resolution establishes the title of Schools Labor Crew Leader in
Section 3.G (Labor-Maintenance, Ungraded) of the Civil Service Rules,
and it also establishes in Section 32 a class specification for the title
of Schools Labor Crew Leader.
