1. That in accordance with Section 87A.01 (8) of the Saint Paui I.egislative Code, the parcel of
property vacated, hereby having been acquired by the City by condemnation, and having been
dedicated for public street purposes, the Council of the City of Saint Paul does hereby approve
and authorize, without advertisement therefor and without competitive bids, the sale and
conveyance by quit claim deed of the City's interest to that portion of Lot 8 vacated, as described
above, to the owner of the parcel of land immediately abutting and contiguous to the portion of
vacated Lot 8, Nancy Larson, for the sum of $500.00 which sum is reported by the Valuation
Engineer to be the fair market value thereof, and the proper City officers aze hereby authorized
and directed to execute and deliver the City's quit claim deed for this purpose.
2. That the purchaser, their successors, and assigns, agree to indemnify, defend and save harmless
the City of Saint Paul, its officers, and employees from all suits, acrions, or claisus of any
character brought as a result of injuries or damages received or sustained by any person, persons,

I am requesting a date of September 27, 2000 for a Public Hearing to approve the
attached Council Resolution. The purpose of the resolution is to vacate part of a lot near
Point Douglas Road and Clarence Street originally taken for right-of-way purposes. The
portion of Lot 8 northerly of the finished road which has been declared excess right-of-
way, will be sold to the adjoining property owner if the vacation is approved.
The usual City offices with rights to the area being vacated have all responded to our
inquiries regarding the proposed vacation. Their responses are with the resolution as it is
being routed for signatures. The resolution is currently in the Ciry Attomey's office.
I have attached the Green Sheet, the Council Resoludon, the petition, and a map of the
area to be vacated. Please let me lrnow if there is anything else you might need for this.

On June 1, 2000, I sent out inquity letters regarding the above vacation. This involves a triangular piece
of property just less than 5000 square feet in area, at Point Douglas Road and Clarence Street.
We received a request to vacate the Citys interest in this property, and just need to know'rf DFSS would
have any interest in it before it is conveyed to the neighboring property owner. If it helps, I can fax you a
copy of the letter and map that were sent in early June.

I am requesting a date of September 27, 2000 for a Public Hearing to approve the
attached Council Resolution. The purpose of the resolution is to vacate part of a lot near
Point Douglas Road and Clarence Street originally taken for right-of-way purposes. The
portion of Lot 8 northerly of the finished road which has been declared excess right-of-
way, will be sold to the adjoining property owner if the vacation is approved.
The usual City offices with rights to the area being vacated have all responded to our
inquiries regarding the proposed vacation. Their responses are with the resolution as it is
being routed for signatures. The resolution is currently in the Ciry Attomey's office.
I have attached the Green Sheet, the Council Resoludon, the petition, and a map of the
area to be vacated. Please let me lrnow if there is anything else you might need for this.

the southwesterly line of Lot 8, a distance of 129.60 feet; ihence continuing in a northwesterly
direction along the said southwesterly line of Lot 8 at a deflection angle of 07 degrees 22
minutes to the left, a distance of 27.22 feet; thence in a nor[heasterly direction at a deflection
angle of 90 degrees to the right, a distance of 113.84 feet, more or less, to the northeasterly
corner of said Lot 8; thence southerly along the east line of Lot 8 to the point of beginning, as
shown on Opening Drawing No. 2120 in Drawer 4, on file in the Department of Public Works,
800 City Hali Annex, 25 West Fourth Sueet, Saint Paul, Minnesota.
This unimproved roadway right-of-way is being vacated to allow the area to accrue to the adjoining

On June 1, 2000, I sent out inquity letters regarding the above vacation. This involves a triangular piece
of property just less than 5000 square feet in area, at Point Douglas Road and Clarence Street.
We received a request to vacate the Citys interest in this property, and just need to know'rf DFSS would
have any interest in it before it is conveyed to the neighboring property owner. If it helps, I can fax you a
copy of the letter and map that were sent in early June.

property vacated, hereby having been acquired by the City by condemnation, and having been
dedicated for public street purposes, the Council of the City of Saint Paul does hereby approve
and authorize, without advertisement therefor and without competitive bids, the sale and
conveyance by quit claim deed of the City's interest to that portion of Lot 8 vacated, as described
above, to the owner of the parcel of land immediately abutting and contiguous to the portion of
vacated Lot 8, Nancy Larson, for the sum of $500.00 which sum is reported by the Valuation
Engineer to be the fair market value thereof, and the proper City officers aze hereby authorized
and directed to execute and deliver the City's quit claim deed for this purpose.
2. That the purchaser, their successors, and assigns, agree to indemnify, defend and save harmless
the City of Saint Paul, its officers, and employees from all suits, acrions, or claisus of any
character brought as a result of injuries or damages received or sustained by any person, persons,

A request has been received to vacate the City's interest in part of a lot previously taken for right-
of-way purposes neaz Po3nt Douglas Road and Clarence Street. The Public Works Department
has determined that the area in question is in excess of the land needed the intersection. A map
of the area of the proposed vacation is enclosed, as well as a legal description. Should the City's
interest in the area be vacated, the property will likely be soid to the abutting properry owner.
We need to know if any City departments have a need for this property before the City can vacate
or convey its interest. Please fax or mail us a letter indicafing whether or not the Police
Departsnent has a need for this property. Please try to have a response to us no later than 7une
30, 2000.
