WHEREAS, the Council of the City of Saint Paul recognizes the importance
of COMPAS (Community Programs in the Arts and Sciences) and especially the
COMPAS/Intersection Program to the citizens of the City of Saint Paul , and,
WHEREAS, the COMPAS/Intersection Program is one which is based on the
premise that the arts can provide the stimulus and innovation necessary to
reshape the future and present of community life, and,
WHEREAS, the COMPAS/Intersection Program is a functioning part of the
St. Anthony Park, Daytons Bluff, West Side and West Seventh Street communities,
BE IT RESOLVED, that neighborhoods should be our first priority, and
meeting their needs should be the highest concern of both public and private
institutions, and that, in the future, we must encourage the continuation of
the arts in the community setting, and,
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, that the Saint Paul City Council commends and
enthusiastically supports COMPAS for its varied programming and dedication
to the communities of this city.
