00-873ORIGINAL Council File # 00��73 Green Sheet # �� RESOLl7T10N CITY OF SAINT PAUL, MINNESOTA Presented By Referred to � �o Committee: Date WHEREAS, the Ciry of Saint Paul is in need of outdoor athletic field space, especially to 10 11 12 13 14 15 16 17 18 provide facilities for youth soccer activities, and WHEREAS, Saint Paul Regional Water Services is the owner of certain property, approximately 32 acres in size, known as the Sandy Lake site, located on County Road B between Rice Street and I35E North, and WHEREAS, said Sandy Lake site is the former location of Regional Water Services settling ponds, and is now being filled in accordance with an MPCA-approved plan for closure of the site, and WIIEREAS, the City through its Division of Parks and Recreation believes the Sandy Lake site can be developed for outdoor recreation uses, including athletic fields, trails and other features, and WIIEREAS, the Division of Pazks and Recreation wishes to explore the outdoor recreation potential of the Sandy Lake site in collabaration with Regional Water Services, Ramsey County Parks and Recreation and Maplewood Parks and Recreation, with the goal of obtaining a long term lease of the site to the City of Saint Paul to develop and operate outdoor recreation facilities, and WHEREAS, the Saint Paul City Council, by its Resolution 98-515, encourages the City and Ramsey Counry to wark together to locate and develop soccer facilities 19 NOW THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED, by the Council of the City of Saint Paul, that 20 the Division of Parks and Recreation is hereby authorized and directed to pursue a plan for 21 development of public outdoor recreation facilities at the Sandy Lake site working in 22 collaboration with Saint Paui Regional Water Services, Ramsey County Parks and Recreation 23 and Maplewood Parks and Recreation, and 24 FURTHER RESOLVED, that any plan resulting from this process shall be acceptable to 25 the City of Maplewood, and said plan and subsequent land lease shall be subject to the approval 26 of the Board of Saint Paul Regional Water Services, and the Council of the City of Saint Pau1.
