The allocation of Room 273 and 274 to the Personnel Office permit these physical changes to occur but the rooms are in need of repair and remo�d��ling if suitable space is to be provided. A complete breakdown of the repair items (i .e. paint, carpetting, ceiling tile, etc. ) and the cost by item is attached. Also, this attachment includes the cost breakdown of the remodeling which Zncludes the removal of one wall in Room 273, the erection of one wall in Room 274, and the installation of an air conditioning system. Since remodeling is to occur, but at the total cost to the City, the Joint Court House and City Hall staff attorney has advised me it is appropriate to proceed with remodeling plans and the acquisition of funds to implement such plans as long as the architectural plans are reviewed by the Court House and City Hall Committees prior to any remodeling occurring. The archi- tectural plans will be presented to the Court House and City Hall Committee at its regular meeting on Monday, May 19. The Resolution also requests funds for the furniture needs of the three programs. A list of furnishing needs and costs is attached. It should be noted that the list reflects only the replacement of furnishings currently being used, but not owned, by the three programs. The furnishing system requested is identical to the system in the Personnel Office and the Annex. This system allows for greater flexibility in meeting future program needs, program changes, and interchangeability of furnishings with other Depart- ments as needs change. The adoption of this request will physically unite all programs of the Personnel Office, provide them with adequate space and furnishings, allow for a more efficient and' better use of personne� , permit coordinatea efforts between programs in related matters, and allow the Personnel Office to address its' objectives in an efficient and effective manner.
