An administrative Resolution changing the titles and

and Fire Prevention Technician I to Fire Aide I, Fire
Aide II, and Fire Technician I, in the Civil Service Rules.
RESOLVED, that the Civil Service Rules be amended in Section 3.L
(Technical Group) by striking the ti$].es of Fire Prevention Aide I, Fire
Prevention Aide II, and Fire Prevention Technician I from Grades 22,
26, and 30; and by substituting in lieu thereof the titles of Fire Aide I,
Fire Aide II, and Fire Technician I in Grades 22, 26, and 3U, respectively;
and be it
FURTHER RESOLVED, that the Civil Service Rules be further amended
by striking from Section 32 the class specifications for the titles of Fire
Prevention Aide I, Fire Prevention Aide II, and Fire Prevention Technician
I, and by substituting in lieu thereof, in proper alphabetical order, the
attached class specifications for the titles of Fire Aide I, Fire Aide II, and

General Statement of Duties: Performs, as a trainee, entry-level technical
work inspecting buildings and grounds for the purpose of enforcing laws,
ordinances, and rules and regulations relating to fire hazards and
operating a cord or cordless switchboard to answer or relay inter-office
telephone calls; and perfoxms related duties as required.
Supervision Received: Works under the immediate technical supervision of a
higher level worker and the administrative supervision of a unit head.
Supervision Exercised: None.
TYPICAL DUTIES PERFORMED

In the capacity of a learner -
Assists in fire prevention inspections of buildings and properties to deter-
mine compliance with fire code regulations.
Assists in the investigation of basic fire prevention complaints.
Assists in surveying buildings and properties for excessive amounts of
combustible trash and assists in the investigation of illegal burning
complaints.
Measures floor areas of buildings.
Participates in water flow and fire pump tests.
Participates in fire safety programs and demonstrations.

ordinances, and rules and regulations relating to fire hazards; assists
with difficult inspections; assists in dispatching public safety vehicles
based on information received; maintains radio communication with vehicles;
and performs related duties as required.
Supervision Received: �dorks under the immediate technical supervision of a
higher level worker and the administrative supervision of a unit head.

equipment; and performs related duties as required.
Supervision Received: Works under the general supervision of a higher level
worker and the administrative supervision of a unit head.

for the basic fire science associate degree or fire protection certificate;
a list of such substitute courses is maintained in the Personnel Office)
and two years' experience as a Fire Aide II or equivalent; or, an associate
degree in fire protection; or, two years' experience in a position equfvaleat
to Fire Technician I; or, completion of the Fire Fighter apprenticeship
program or equivalent. Each additional year of qualifying experience may
be substituted for five credit hours. Must have a Minnesota driver's license,

of the following:
1 . Fesolution replacing class titles and spec.s for Fire Prevention Aide I

Aide I , Fire Aide II and Fire Technician I , respectively . - No changes
in grades . (10805-RH) .
2 . Resolution revising class specs _for titles af Fire Prevention Techni-
cian II and III and titles of Fire Preventian Inspector and Fire Invest-
igator. This change will result in two class specs as follows : Fire
Prevention Technician Ii/Fire Prevention Inspector, and Fire Frevention

3. Resolution establishing titles and specs for Fire .Communications Oper-
ator I and II , also revising class specs for Fire Alarm Dispatcher I

Town Restorations , Inc. , will eliminate the 2aan portion of this project
and reallocate those funds to the development portion of the project .
