An Administrative Resolution revising the minimum
qualifications in the class specification for Tractor
Operator I, in the Civil Service Rules.
RESOLVED, that the Civil Service Rules be amended in Section
32 by striking out the class specification for the title of Tractor Operator
I, by substituting in lieu thereof the attached class specification for the
title of Tractor Operator I.

Duties and responsibilities:
Under supervision, to drive loaders up to and including 1 cubic yard,
tractors with power take-off 50 h.p. or less; and to perform related
work as assigned.
F�camples of work performed:
To operate a Melrose loader or siaiZar equipment for loading earth, snow,
leaves, and cinders.
To operate front end loaders with bucket capacity up to and including
1 cubic yard.
To operate farm tractor with power take-off 50 h.p. or less.
To perform routine maintenance, cleaning, etc.
Minimvm Qualifications:
Forty hours of officially recognized training or six months' experience
, on this type of equipment. (Fxperience on the 3ob will not count for
training.) Must have a valid Class "B" Minnesota driver'$ license.
The hours of training and experience must be available to employees
in the order of their seniority in titles in the order l,isted below.
1. Heavy Equipment Operator or related title.
2. A11 other laboring titles assigned to crews, i.e. , Truck
Driver, Laborer, Groundsman, Ditch Digger, etc.

We recommend your approval and submission af this Resolution to the City Council.

PURPOSE AND RATIONALE FOR THIS ACTION:
This resolution will change the minimum qualifications for Tractor Operator I,
reducing them from 100 hours of training to 40 and from one year of experience
to six months. This change will make the minimum qualifications for Tractor
Operator I consistent with the minimum qualifications for Heavy Equipment Operator.
