WHEREAS, hockey is a basic foundation of athletic sporting events on
St. Paul's east side, and
WHEREAS, all athletics encourages a spirit of cooperation, competition,
and team play, and
WHEREAS, the East Side Area Traveling "A" Squirts Hockey Team �as
successfully won championships at the city, state, and national
competition levels, and
WI3EREAS, said team of sixteen nine and ten year olds are invited to
play in the World Elks - Tom Thumb - Atom Hockey Tournaments in Thunder
Bay, Canada, and
HfiHEREAS, said team coached by Lee Chermak' is the only U.S .A. Team to
compete in the April 11 - 13, 1980 tournament, therefore be it
RESOLVED, that the City of St. Paul hereby awards praise and honor to
each and every member of the team, and be it further
t2ESOLVED, that the City Council extends our heartfelt thanks to the
Team for their St. Paul and Minnesota spirit and wish to them good
luck in the Tourname•nt.
