WHEREAS, Herb Brooks is a native East Side resident and citizen of St. Paul, and
WHEREAS, Herb attended the University of Minnesota and was also an outstanding member
of the University of Minnesota Gophers, and
WHEREAS, Herb was a stalwart and exceptional player on the 1964 and 1968 United States
Hockey Squads, and
WHEREAS, Herb Brooks is Coach of the present University of Minnesota Gophers and has
been for many years, and
WHEREAS, Herb Brooks successfully coached the United States Nationals in Moscow this
previous winter, and
WHEREAS, Herb Brooks is the outstanding, excellent, and superb coach of the 1980
United States Olympic Hockey Team, and
WHEREAS, Herb coached Team U.S.A. to the Gold Medal in the 1980 Olympics, and
WHEREAS, Kerb timelessly and unselfishly gave of himself for the members of the Team
and the United States, and
WHEREAS, Herb Brooks consistently praised and honored the spirited team effort, and
WHEREAS, Herb Brooks has always carried high the spirit and quality of life of St. Paul
in all that he has been involved in, and
WHEREAS, Herb Brooks is a positive credit to� the East Side, the City of St. Paul, the
State of Minnesota, and the United States, therefore be it
RESOLVID, that the City of St. Paul hereby formally acclaims, honors, and praises
Herb Brooks as our outstanding St. Paulite and citizen of Minnesota and the world.
