Supervision Exercised: r�y exercise within a unit immediate or close technical or administrative supervision directly over lower Ievel clerical workers. TYPICAL DUTIES PERFORMID The listed examples may not include all duties perfoxmed by all positions in this class. Receives individuals and answers telephones, supplies information, determ3nes nature of business and answers questions or assists persons in contacting others who have more knowledge regarding or can be of assistance in solving the problem. Organizes, compiles and maintains records and files pertaining to the number and kind of questions and camplaints. Recovers data and provides statistics to the Ma.yor`s Office, the Council and city departments upon request; provides information to the news media. Assembles the monthly and annual report of the section's activities, prepares other reports upon request. Assists otfier office personnel in supplying information; suggesting saurces, resolutions or alternate ideas based on prior experience. Completes special, long-term or difficult projects upon request of the unit head. Operates office equipment needed to complete assig�ents including calculators, copy machines, typewriters or word processors. Reads and answers correspondence received by the Information and Complaint Office. KNOWLIDGES, SKILLS AND ABILITIES Considerable ability to deal effectively with the public, sometimes in stressful or emotional situations. Working ability to understand and interpret the policies and procedures of various agencies who regulate or provide service to the public. Working ability to make arithmetic computations and to do routine statistical work. Working ability to write letters, memoranda aad reports. Working ability to understand written materials and to interpret them to others. Considerable ability to work under difficult conditions. Working ability to follow through with assignments.
